Implementing Powerpoint and WebCT in my Perception class.
I spent the summer taking the Powerpoint and WebCT classes in order to implement those in my Perceptual Psychology course. WebCT has been excellent for the organization of the course. I’m having students post discussion questions on a discussion board, download lecture notes and homework assignments, and view their up-to-date grades. The use of Powerpoint has also enhanced my lectures. Perception is a class that focuses largely on vision and audition. Powerpoint has allowed me to include many visual demonstrations (including motion in movies) that were impossible with overheads. Also, I’ve also managed to incorporate some sound files that have been great for illustrating some auditory principles. Students have responded very positively to the use of Powerpoint (particularly mentioning the examples and activities that were left out before).
