Why the Drum Works Wonders!

As a result of attending the 2006 TUT Institute, I created a Power Point Presentation that addresses several articles supporting the use of Drumming as a Therapeutic Tool. In addition to including excerpts from journal articles and studies about the applications of Drumming in a Recovery or Therapeutic Setting, I have been able, with the assistance of Sara Richards, Technology Support Staff, to include clips from recordings that demonstrate drumming from different cultural backgrounds. I use this power point as an opener to demonstrating and participating in drumming within my Multicultural Counseling Course. The full Power Point Presentation was recently utilized when I presented at the California Institute for Mental Health Cultural Competence Conference in San Francisco on November 9th.
